Leak: Snapdragon 1000 poderá fazer marcação cerrada à Intel no segmento dos portáteis
Snapdragon 1000 could make closed marking to Intel in the notebook segment
Qualcomm has earned its status by marketing some of the best mobile processors on the market, but as some leaks indicate, the company may be about to break ground in the field of handheld computers. According to the WinFuture portal, which claims to have obtained details about a new chip, the company is preparing to launch the SDM1000, a CPU previously referenced in various technology forums, which allegedly will be entirely designed with computers in mind. The processor, which may be named Snapdragon 1000, will have dimensions of around 20mm x 15mm and consume more power than its mobile parallels. The idea is to compete directly with Intel and the low-power processors that the company markets for this segment.Leaks indicate that this processor will be based on an ARM Cortex-A76 architecture, support for gigabit Ethernet speeds, 16GB of RAM and 2 x 128GB of storage. It is not known when Qualcomm will announce the SDM1000, but the leak is consistent with some rumors that have surfaced online. One of the company's employees confirmed that he was working on the chip as an engineer for the Windows Multimedia Project. The international press underlines that Intel "is looking forward to the strengthening of this competitor, since the sector where it has been dominant for several years is now subtracting part of its quota with the arrival of competent alternatives.
