LG apresenta novas versões do seu notebook ultrafino Gram
LG introduces new versions of its ultra-thin Gram notebook
LG has updated the line of notebooks with 14- and 15-inch models. The manufacturer intends to introduce ultra-light notebooks on the market, without this cutting the power of processing. Both models feature eighth-generation Intel processors and a technical architecture that allows them to run for about two dozen hours with their 72Wh battery - which, the brand highlights, can be charged in three hours.

The Gram intends to be in the Premium market, according to Vítor Ribeiro of LG. There is a potential market for ultraslim, with a growth of 16 thousand units from 2016 to 2017, in the consumer market, and 11 thousand in the professional area. The professional area, in a range of 25-45 years is the target of the new versions, in a tendency of growth registered in the last years. Carina Miranda, product manager, refers to the main features of the notebook: portability, performance, strength and additional functionalities.

Weighing in at around 1kg, the two Gram portable models feature a chassis built of nano-carbon and magnesium fibers and is intended primarily for the most demanding and on the go users. LG has submitted the notebook to various durability texts, such as shock, vibration, low pressure, dust, high and low temperatures and corrosion of the salt fog, obtaining the MIL-STD 810G military certification from the US Army. During the presentation was demonstrated the flexibility of the laptop, with the screen to be folded, without breaking.

The notebook features a full HD tactile IPS display with 1080p resolution in both versions. The 14-inch model (14Z980) features the same size as a conventional 13-inch notebook, gaining screen space because of its simpler frame.
The manufacturer claims a further 40% performance over last year's model due to the switch from seventh to eighth generation processors. You can find two versions of the Intel chip, the Core i5 8250U and the i7 8550U in the new models. Both were equipped with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 256GB SSD for data storage. And if you're not satisfied with the free space, the laptop chassis contains an additional M.2 slot for an extra SSD.

Note that being a laptop more focused on productivity at work, and entertainment other than video games, this solution does not have a dedicated graphics card. Graphics processing is integrated into the Intel system.
To give a personal touch to the ultra-thin, LG offers a biometric fingerprint reader built into the power button. This system allows you to quickly unlock the computer to start working (in less than 10 seconds), while keeping it safe. While pressing the button to turn on the notebook, the scanner simultaneously scans the user's prints.

The notebook's chassis also has a USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 port, which serves simultaneously to power the computer, but also as extra input for a peripheral, either an external disk or an additional display. In addition, it has HDMI output and three USB 3.0 ports (on the 14-inch model it only has two USB ports) so you do not fail to connect all the peripherals required for the job. All models also have input for DTS: X headphones. The keyboard is backlit, allowing you to work in dimly lit environments. Its optimization of the fan, allows to maintain the portable cooled, but with a minimum of noise.
