Publish videos on social networks? In Kenya you will need to have a license
A law in Kenya has now introduced into law that "any video taken for public viewing without a film license" is illegal to the eyes of the Kenya Film Rating Commission (KFCB). And yes, the license extends to videos filmed for the purpose of being published on social networks. If video is filmed without this license, it is a fine that can go to the equivalent of 846 euros and a maximum sentence of five years in prison. "The Commission would like to inform all video players and producers and the general public that creating any video made publicly available without a KFCB license is illegal," the statement said. The measure has already provoked a series of criticisms in the country, with citizens pointing out the decision as a form of censorship and the penalty too harsh. However, there are also many doubts that KFCB will be able to apply this law.
