The success of Vero and the decline of Facebook and Instagram
Vero has been giving talk in recent weeks, creating buzz especially among Instagram users who have begun to point to the new social network as the platform's 'successor' and a real threat to Facebook's hegemony.Besides the attractive design, what makes Vero so captivating? As Time says, the reason is in the name itself, Vero, which in Portuguese means "Truth". This is because Vero's goal is to provide a more authentic experience and show users only what is shared by the people they are connected to on the social network. This does not happen on Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg's social network has advertising as the business model, so it shows its users the ads their customers have paid to 'rotate' on the platform. It is this inclination (too much) in ads that has caused so much criticism, especially from Instagram users. So how does Vero make money? Unlike Facebook and reliance on advertisers, Vero intends to have annual subscriptions as a business model, seeking to create a community that is committed to the success of the social network.
At the moment Vero is still in beta and, therefore, is still depopulated. Still, it's an opportunity to test by downloading it from the App Store on Android's iOS and Play Store and see how it's a social network that does not suffer from the problems of Facebook and Instagram.
