STREAMING

Novo padrão de compressão torna serviços de streaming 40% mais rápidos
New compression standard makes streaming services 40% faster
Comprised of technology giants such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook and Netflix, the Alliance for Open Media (AOM) has announced that the specifications for the new AV1 compression format are finalized so users can briefly take advantage of this technology .AV1 is an open and free compression method that promises to make video streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime 40% faster without the image losing quality as it will consume 40% less data. These features will enable the technology to also be used in games, video calls and live broadcasts, with AOM aiming to be the standard compression method from 2020.In addition to being lighter and faster, the AV1 is also open and free, unlike current HEVC technology. In this way, companies can include it in their browsers, applications, operating systems, chips and other electronic components without dealing with patents or royalty payments.
