New Xperia XZ2 designed to record and play media in 4K
Sony took to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, its new top-of-the-range smartphone, the Xperia XZ2, also available in an alternative compact version. And the message was clear: all the contents of your new smartphones will be consumed and produced in 4K format. The manufacturer brought together the best of the technologies used in its cameras, including the Cyber-Shot and the Motion Eye sensor, to make the XZ2 one of the best competitors in the Ultra HD image.
The larger version of the XZ2 features a 5.7-inch screen and marks the debut of the manufacturer in the use of fast charging via wireless, an aspect that lacks in its compact version, which has a 5-inch screen. Moreover, the two models presented share almost the same specifications.
When talking about 4K movies, one thinks about the contrast and sharpness of colors charged by the High Dynamic Range (HDR), which not only has been adopted but Sony also presents its new Dynamic Vibration System, which transfers to the vibration of the device all the action of the movies, video games or musical concerts. Imagine the DualShock technology present in the PlayStation 4 commands now applied to the smartphone. This way, users are able to see, hear and feel during their multimedia experience on the small devices with 18: 9 screen. Note that the vibration feature is unavailable in the compact version of your smartphone.According to the manufacturer, through Sony's proprietary XReality engine on its Bravia TVs, it will be possible to convert SDR-quality HDR videos in real time. That is, make a upscaling of the conventional image to high definition quality, a very recurring trick on the TVs.Its rear camera is equipped with a 19MP Motion Eye sensor, which allows you to record 960FPS, generating super slow motion content, improving the resolution of the previous model from 720p to 1080p (full HD). The 3D scan technology introduced in the original Xperia XZ has been targeted for improvement, according to Sony. This is done in the front camera, so users can quickly scan a 3D image taken in selfie and then share on social networks.
The XZ2 offers the Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of internal storage capacity, expandable to 400GB via microSD cards. The smartphone also uses the Android Oreo operating system and a battery with capacity of 3.180 mAh in the normal version and 2870 mAh in the XZ2 Compact. When your smartphone is plugged in, battery charging is monitored by Qnovo's technology, which adjusts the charge levels to extend its life.
The smartphone was made from Corning Gorilla Glass 5 material, keeping the device protected both front and rear, and also splash-proof. The fingerprint sensor was placed on the back of the device.
The Xperia XZ2 will be sold in four colors: Liquid Black, Liquid Silver, Deep Green and Ash Pink. The release date and prices are still to be confirmed.
