Tesla explains how you got the design of your most affordable car

In an interview with Automobile, Tesla's car designer Franz von Hozhausen explained how he came to the design of what is the most affordable (and recent) car of the brand, Model 3.
"He was influenced by drivers. They saw the Model S as a big car but there was the wish that it was 10 to 20% smaller, the size of a BMW 3 Series or an Audi A4. We thought the $ 35,000 price would work. We wanted five seats, more interior space and we wanted to keep the silhouette, "said von Hozhausen.
The designer - who until 2010 was responsible for the design of the North American division of Mazda - also said that the entire development process of Model 3 took only two years, from the first drafts to factory production.
