The new Leaf is Nissan's response to Tesla. Is it enough?
The Nissan officially announced the 2018 edition of its electric model, the Leaf, a car that comes at a time when the electric vehicle market is busier than ever. With the presence of cars like the Renault Zoe, the Chevy Bolt and even the Tesla Model 3, Nissan has to try to convince consumers to bet on the new Leaf.
For this, the Japanese manufacturer bet on a new design for a Leaf. With a more robust look but with the same dimensions as the previous version, Leaf 2018 can convince anyone who has never liked the look of the predecessor.
The same purpose can be achieved with the two great news of the Nissan Leaf, ProPilot and ProPark. As The Verge says, the first is a semi-autonomous driving mode that on the motorway keeps the vehicle on the road, but does not allow overtaking or change of course. The second novelty, the ProPark, is a mode that allows the driver to give the car control of parking maneuvers. Everything automatically.
Regarding the motor itself, it has a power of 110kW and comes with a 40 kWh battery. This should give an autonomy not much more than 300 kilometers, which should be below the range of vehicles within the same range as is the case of Model 3.
The new Nissan Leaf will hit the Japanese market in early October, with no forecasts for the Western market or any price indication at the moment. You can see some photos of the new model above as well as a short presentation video of the car.
