Users report bug in Google Pixel 9a front camera

Google's newest model, the Pixel 9a, is facing a curious issue with the front camera that is catching the attention of some users. Several reports have emerged in recent days indicating that when attempting to take a photo with the selfie camera in low-light conditions, the preview screen may experience flickering.

According to what users have shared on the Reddit forum, especially in the community dedicated to Pixel smartphones, this strange behavior only appears when the user is preparing the photo. In other words, the problem is limited to the camera's viewing window and disappears completely in the final captured image. The photographs do not show any defects or traces of the observed flicker.

According to the testimonies collected, the flickering is more evident when the camera is pointed at dark or black objects in low-light environments. The effect appears to be related to the automatic Night Sight mode, which attempts to adjust the image exposure when detecting low lighting, resulting in this unexpected behavior.

Apparently, the problem is not linked to the equipment's hardware, but to the camera application's software. Several users have found that by uninstalling the latest update to the Pixel Camera app, the issue goes away completely and the front camera starts behaving normally again in all light conditions.

This detail confirms that this is a bug introduced in a recent version of the app, and so it is expected that Google will release a fix in a future update. For now, anyone affected can work around the issue by reverting to a previous version of the app.

While the tech giant has yet to release an update that resolves the issue, users are encouraged to report the issue. To do this, simply access your device Settings, look for the “About phone” section and use the “Send feedback about this device” option.

Some reports also indicate that flickering may be affecting other Pixel models, although there are no official confirmations. This possibility is generating some discussion among users, but for now the focus is on the Pixel 9a, which seems to be the main target.

Although it is a minor bug and has no real impact on the quality of photographs, this situation reminds us that problems are not always with the physical components of the equipment. Small software bugs can sometimes compromise the user experience, even if only subtly.

Anyone thinking about purchasing the Pixel 9a can rest assured: the problem, although annoying in the preview, does not affect the final result of the photographs. Still, it's worth keeping an eye on future updates to the camera app to ensure that the error will be permanently fixed.
