Snapdragon 8 Elite 2: the new top-of-the-line processor for mobile devices is already in development

Qualcomm is preparing to launch its new top-of-the-range processor for mobile devices, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, and everything indicates that you will be able to count on notable improvements in terms of performance and efficiency. The information comes via a leak published on the Chinese social network Weibo by Digital Chat Station, a well-known name when it comes to anticipating technological innovations.

This new processor appears as the direct successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and should be integrated into high-end smartphones from the end of this year. The big news? Second-generation Oryon CPU cores, designed by Qualcomm itself, which promise a 25% jump in performance over the previous generation.

Another of the innovations highlighted is support for LPDDR6 RAM, in addition to the already common LPDDR5x. This new generation of RAM has not yet reached the market, but the first smartphones with this type of memory should debut side by side with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. The expectation is that this combination will significantly increase the responsiveness of the devices, offering more fluid experiences in multitasking, games and demanding applications.

In the graphic field, the evolution is also evident. Qualcomm is expected to increase the independent GPU cache to 16MB, up from 12MB in the current generation. This change can translate into an increase of up to 30% in graphics performance, something that will please those who demand the maximum in mobile games or content creation.

According to the data already revealed, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be produced by TSMC, using the N3P manufacturing process, one of the most advanced technologies currently available in the industry. This process allows energy consumption to be reduced without compromising performance, which can result in greater energy efficiency — an added value for both the autonomy and thermal control of smartphones.

There are even those who point to an overall gain of 20% in total performance compared to the previous processor, consolidating the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 as a robust option for manufacturers looking to present reference devices.

Although Qualcomm has not yet made an official announcement, everything points to a presentation in October, during the usual Snapdragon Summit. However, some manufacturers may anticipate and present their equipment as early as September.

If you're waiting to upgrade your smartphone, this new processor promises to raise the bar for the next generation of devices. Keep an eye out, because the next few months will bring a lot of new things in the Android universe.
