Snazzy Labs engineer and YouTuber Quinn Nelson has modified a typical Apple Mac Mini computer and ended up shrinking an already small machine by up to 78%. At the same time, the performance has not changed, as almost all components remained original. The new "Mini Mac Mini" is now a true miniature.
Nelson's first step was to get rid of the basic 150-watt power supply, which is not only too big but also redundant for such a system. It was replaced with a 65W Microsoft Surface external case, which Quinn modified by adding a MagSafe 2 connector. From there, the cable runs to the DC voltage regulator, and from there to the Mac Mini.
The second important engineering decision was the creation of a new building. In tight spaces, cooling becomes a big problem, so Nelson designed a “hollow” design that is dotted with holes. The case is 3D printed from a special resin and resembles the Mac Pro's design in many ways, though it's not quite as sleek.
