CES 2025

Plantaform: the innovative system allows you to grow vegetables at home

Presented at CES 2025, Plantaform is an innovative, automated system for growing edible plants indoors, designed by a Canadian startup.

Using fogponics technology, which creates a nutritious mist to nourish plants, the system is inspired by the technology developed by NASA for growing vegetables in space.

This method uses up to 98% less water compared to traditional gardening and offers a more efficient and sustainable solution than hydroponic and aeroponic systems.

The operation is simple: the user places seed capsules, called Plant Pods, into a main device.

Each capsule contains non-GMO seeds in a soil-free growing medium.

After adding water and a nutrient powder to the device, the user scans a code on the capsules with their smartphone.

The app sends the ideal growing conditions to the system, which automatically adjusts factors such as light, airflow, temperature and hydration.

The unit waters plants with an ultra-fine mist that promotes more effective oxygenation and nutrient absorption than conventional methods.

This means plants grow faster and produce more, while requiring much less maintenance and without the mess associated with traditional methods.

The system is available for $499.99 including the device, a pack of 15 lettuce pods and the nutrient powder, with additional pod options for growing herbs, edible flowers and “superfoods”.

Plantaform was awarded the CES 2025 Innovation Award, highlighting its potential in the smart home gardening market. In the video below, you can see an explanation with images of how the system works:
