The Galaxy S25 Slim is tipped to launch as a new kind of flagship Android smartphone from Samsung in the new year. It is believed to have the OEM's most cutting-edge rear cameras as well as a new, thinner form-factor in order to compete with the rumored iPhone 17 Air. However, it has been left out of the latest leak that lists the devices set to launch during the imminent major January 2025 Unpacked event.
Samsung is projected to introduce a new Slim variant to its Galaxy S series of flagship Android smartphones in 2025. It might have the same up-to-date Snapdragon 8 Elite platform as the S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, yet have the least thickness of its line (as the name suggests) in order to compete with and possibly pre-empt Apple's plans to do the same with the iPhone 17 "Air".
The "Galaxy S25 Slim" has been rumored to debut alongside its more traditional siblings on January 22, a date also projected to be announced soon as that for Samsung's first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025. However, that might not be the case.
Android Authority now claims to have torn down and analyzed the latest One UI 7 beta, or preview build for Samsung's next major mobile device OS upgrade, and found no mention of the "SM-S937", or S25 Slim.
By contrast, the SM-S931U, SM-S936U, and SM-S938U (or US versions of the S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra respectively) are all specified in the build: a stronger potential indication of an earlier launch.
Accordingly, this new leak might be the best evidence yet that the S25 Slim could replace a successor to the S24 FE (now available for $595 on Amazon) in Samsung's 2025 global product cycle.
It might still enjoy some hype during the next Galaxy Unpacked launch nonetheless, giving fans to brace themselves for how much it might cost in the meantime.
As is currently the case, the expectation is that there will be several models for the S25 line. The most expensive will be the S25 Ultra, which had some more details leaked by the SamMobile website in the last few days. According to the page, information about the screen of the more expensive version was released.
Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S25 will have a 6.9-inch QHD+ screen with 3,000 nits of maximum brightness, which should ensure good viewing of content even under strong sunlight. With this, the promise is that the brightness of the screen, at least in the Ultra model, will be improved in relation to the S24 Ultra.
Another leak pointed out by the SamMobile website is about the continuous update in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. According to the page, the top-of-the-line model will be compatible with Android's Seamless Updates, which allows software updates to be performed in the background. Then, simply restart the device for the update to be completed.
The battery of the new top-of-the-line S family model should be 5,000 mAh, while the smartphone's storage will be UFS 4.0. The size of the S25 Ultra's battery had been leaked some time ago, but now the data has been confirmed through the phone's code.
