PANASONIC

An all-new flat design inspired by rangefinder styled camera bodies

Panasonic Lumix S9 Mirrorless Camera

With the Lumix S9, Panasonic announces the smallest and lightest full-frame system camera for its mirrorless “Lumix S” full-frame system. Available in Jet Black, Crimson Red, Dark Olive and Night Blue, the Lumix S9 is a stylish companion for content creators and photographers.

The S9 is an extra-small system camera that can be easily taken with you at all times thanks to its size, form factor and low weight (500 g without lens). It has no viewfinder, features a 24 MP image sensor in full 35 mm format and supports the “MP4 Lite” video format for smaller, easily uploadable video files. The S9 is available in four different colors and is also aimed at the content creator clientele.

The camera is compatible with all 16 lenses in Panasonic’s “Lumix S” series, as well as many full-frame L-mount lenses from L-mount partners and third-party lenses from other manufacturers.

The S9 measures 73.9 mm in height, 126 mm in width and 46.7 mm in depth. It weighs 486 g (case, shoe cover, battery, SD memory card) and approx. 403 g (case, shoe cover).

The approximately 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, which matches that of the Lumix S5II, and the latest processor record content with great detail and natural colors. In addition, the camera is equipped with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-Focus), which Panasonic says enables excellent subject tracking, as well as Active IS, which significantly reduces camera shake even when shooting handheld.

The Lumix S9 also allows creatives to access the popular Real-Time LUT function via the new “LUT” button on the camera body and easily use a variety of popular, classic or individual color styles in-camera or to give photos a specific look.

With the “Lumix Lab” mobile app, you can now develop your own LUT color profiles using your smartphone. This means that in the future you will be able to create original, easy-to-distribute photos and videos without any post-processing on the computer. The data transfer speed from the camera to the smartphone has also been improved with the new app.

The Lumix S9 introduces a new recording format: MP4 Lite. With Open Gate recording in 4:2:0 10-bit at 30p/25p, high-quality videos can be recorded in the ideal format for smartphones and the aspect ratios can be easily adjusted for social media using the “Lumix Lab” mobile app. This new, streamlined editing workflow gives content creators the opportunity to easily “shoot and share” on the go.
