Galaxy Z Fold 6: why the brand's new foldable may disappoint
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 at the second edition of Galaxy Unpacked, scheduled for July 10th. But the SmartPrix website has already announced almost all the specifications of the brand's next Galaxy Z Fold – for example: screen, processor and cameras. And the information can disappoint.
The SmartPrix website leaked almost all the specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which should be launched by Samsung in the second edition of Galaxy Unpacked, scheduled for July 10th. And the details of the new device may be disappointing when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5;
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen and a 7.6-inch internal screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. The camera set is identical to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, with a 50MP main rear camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto lens and 10MP and 4MP front cameras;
Equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has advanced connectivity, including 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and USB 3.2 Gen 1. The 4,400mAh battery is the same that of the Z Fold 5, but it may last longer;
The design of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is thinner, lighter and more resistant, possibly with a titanium structure (same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra) and reduced dimensions. Available in three colors, the price of the new model is expected to increase by US$100, with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants costing between US$1899.99 and US$2259.99.
Based on the information leaked by the website, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not offer significant improvements compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 5. At least, that's what Sam Mobile, a website specializing in Samsung devices, points out.
Check out the technical specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 below, as published by the SmartPrix website:

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 also has a 10MP front camera on the outer screen and a 4MP front camera (4-in-1 pixel binning using a 16MP sensor) on the inner screen.
Processor, storage and connectivity... “Under the hood”, the device features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Battery...Samsung's new foldable cell phone has a 4,400mAh battery, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 5. In other words, it shouldn't offer any real improvement in battery life. This overturns rumors that the new foldable would have a slightly larger battery.
The good news: Samsung seems to have managed to find a way to extend the life of the same battery capacity. According to SmartPrix, charging the Galaxy Z Fold 6 can:
Last up to 18 hours on cellular and Wi-Fi networks (one hour longer than the Z Fold 5);
Support up to 23 hours of video playback (two hours more);
Support up to 77 hours of music playback (four hours more).
Design...The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is thinner and lighter, and has shorter and wider screens than its predecessor. The new foldable would also have a titanium structure, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, launched in the first edition of Galaxy Unpacked, in January.
The phone measures 153.5 x 68.1 x 12.1 mm when folded and 153.5 x 132.6 x 5.6 mm when unfolded. And it weighs 239g – 13 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The foldable will come in three colors: Navy, Pink and Silver Shadow.
Although SmartPrix does not provide information on the IP rating (level of protection against dust and water), speakers, fingerprint reader and charging speeds, they are likely to be the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Price...Samsung is expected to increase the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 by US$100 in the US. Therefore, the prices of its three storage variants will likely be.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 (256GB): US$1899.99;
