Company reveals which smartphones and tablets are next in line for spring 2024 One UI 6.1 upgrades
Samsung has now confirmed that a new batch of older smartphones and tablets will soon be offered One UI 6.1 upgrades. Not only has the company revealed which models are eligible, but it has also outlined a rough release schedule.
The saga of Samsung rolling out One UI 6.1 continues. To recap, the company debuted the interim software update in January with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. $1,299.99 on Amazon). A month later, Samsung officially announced that One UI 6.1 would reach nine flagships released in 2023, as well as a the Galaxy S23 FE.
Now, it shared details about the next candidates that would be eligible for One UI 6.1. As usual, the company disclosed the information to its home audience first, which typically receives updates ahead of other markets. In a post on its Community forums, Samsung has mentioned the time frame in which other flagships will begin moving on from One UI 6.0 builds, such as the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Specifically, the following devices would be next in line for One UI 6.1:
Galaxy S21
Galaxy S21 Plus
Galaxy S21 Ultra
Galaxy S22
Galaxy S22 Plus
Galaxy S22 Ultra
Galaxy Z Fold3
Galaxy Z Fold4
Galaxy Z Flip3
Galaxy Z Flip4
Galaxy Tab S8
Galaxy Tab S8 Plus
Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra
However, Samsung only mentions devices that it released two years ago in its latest global press release. Thus, there is no mention of the Galaxy S21 series or its third-generation foldables. Nonetheless, the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Tab S8 series and fourth-generation Galaxy Z foldables should start seeing One UI 6.1 upgrades 'from early May' with the following feature set:
