OpenAI will pay $20,000 to bug catchers
OpenAI will pay users of its chat AI bot ChatGPT up to $20,000 to identify bugs and vulnerabilities in the system. The company said in a blog post that it is rolling out a program to find vulnerabilities in its AI products.
To better collaborate on vulnerability detection, OpenAI has partnered with Bugcrowd Inc, a platform that will collect calls from program participants.
OpenAI is willing to pay from $200 for "low severity" vulnerabilities and up to $20,000 "for serious bugs". The company said it decided to launch the program because it believes transparency and cooperation with users are key to uncovering problems the technology may have.
"This initiative is a natural part of our overall idea of developing safe AI. We want to create safe and reliable technologies and services, so we would like to ask you for help," said the company's blog.
On the Bugcrowd platform, various security issues are specified, for which no reward will be given. In particular, these include ChatGPT requests related to pulling prohibited information from the bot by cheating, writing malicious code, or requests where the user forces the chatbot to write insults.
