Google thinks of you, even if you're using a Mac. The company has released a new update to its web browser that gives macOS users more autonomy. The latest version of Google Chrome includes battery optimization specially designed to extend the battery life of Apple Mac computers.
The new Google Chrome optimization will allow you to use Google Chrome for 17 hours and watch YouTube videos for 18 hours on a 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M2 processor. All this on a single battery charge. This was announced by Google on its official blog with a post titled “The Fast & The Curious” referring to the saga of the film “Fast & Furious”.
The new Google Chrome update increases the battery of Apple MacBooks...Google has greatly extended the autonomy of Apple Mac computers thanks to its new Google Chrome Optimization. Undoubtedly, this is one more reason to use browsers other than Safari.
The new version of Google Chrome for MacBook extends battery life by up to 17 hours using the web browser and up to 18 hours playing videos on YouTube. But not only that, but the company also added that by activating the power saving mode, the battery life time is extended by another 30 minutes.
This is made possible by optimizing the web browser to greatly reduce unnecessary background tasks and implement other changes such as modifying JavaScript timers to prevent the CPU from using more resources and minimizing accesses to data structures.
Google used the latest generation MacBook Pro as an example, but that's not to say the optimization doesn't work on older generation Mac models as well. Google Chrome's energy efficiency has also been improved on older Macs.
This is very good news from Google and its browser for macOS. From the company they have announced that they will continue to optimize their energy saving mode in the near future to offer the best experience to their users. You can download Google Chrome from Google's official website completely free.
