MWC 2023

4 new foldable smartphones that “stole” the scene at MWC 2023
Flip phones have entered our daily lives in recent years and smartphone companies continue to innovate and transform the industry. At MWC 2023, we saw foldable devices from Oppo, Honor, and Tecno, and we even confirmed a report that a OnePlus foldable phone will hit the market later this year. Let's take a look at the devices that stood out.
Oppo Find N2...The Oppo Find N2(image above) is slightly narrower than its predecessor at 72.6mm when closed (up from 73mm). Most importantly, the device only weighs 233 grams thanks to the improved hinge design. Furthermore, the thickness is 14.6 mm when closed and 7.4 mm when open (down from 15.9 mm and 8.0 mm).
The external screen has been reworked. It's still roughly the same size, however, the aspect ratio is slightly lower at 17.7:9 (instead of 18:9). Even so, the phone is narrower than its predecessor because Oppo has cut the bezels. The external 5.54” monitor now also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. It's also very bright, clocking in at 1,350 nits and protected by Victus Gorilla Glass.

Oppo Find N2 Flip...The OPPO Find N2 Flip will be released in Astral Black and Moonlit Purple colors. The smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset along with 8GB of RAM (with virtual RAM expandable up to 16GB) and 256GB of internal storage. It will have a 4,300mAh battery with support for 44W SUPERVOOC fast charging and will feature a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera and an 8MP sensor. The device comes with a 6.8-inch internal foldable display and a 3.6-inch external display with a resolution of 720×382 pixels. The screen has 120 Hz AMOLED technology. Externally, there is Corning Gorilla Glass and 60Hz protection.

VS Honor Magic...The Honor Magic VS launched in China last year. It looks like a small tablet that can be folded in half to look like a more traditional smartphone. Its inner display measures 7.9 inches with a nearly square 10.3:9 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate, while the outer display is 6.45 inches with a 21:9 aspect ratio and refresh rate of 120Hz. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and has a 5,000mAh battery, which can be fast charged up to 66W. There are three rear cameras (a 54-megapixel main, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide, and an eight-megapixel telephoto lens) and a 16-megapixel front camera.

Tecno Phantom V Fold...Tecno introduced the PHANTOM V Fold, its first premium foldable smartphone. As the newest product from TECNO's smartphone sub-brand, PHANTOM, the device promises to update the "smart" folding experience with a host of innovative technologies and design features. The PHANTOM V Fold is powered by MediaTek's flagship Dimensity 9000+ processor. The device-specific dual-SIM, dual 5G processor is produced by an advanced TSMC 4nm manufacturing process and delivers ultra-smooth foldable device performance with low power consumption. The phone is also equipped with an ultra-sharp 5-lens photography system, including a 50MP main camera with an ultra-light sensitive adaptive sensor, two other rear lenses and two front lenses. The system creates a special photography experience made possible by the phone's foldable design, which promises everything from enhanced selfies on the rear camera to more immersive video calling on the big screen.
