Reading speed on computers with SSDs has drastically decreased after installing Windows 11 update number KB5023706. At first, the problem was associated with a specific drive model (ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB), but later it turned out that a similar bug is present in systems with other components.
The bug appeared in the Moment 2 service pack, which began installing today. The main innovation of this patch is the integration of ChatGPT in Bing. And with it is the aforementioned problem.
"Copying large files of several gigabytes may take longer than expected. You are more likely to encounter this issue when copying from a network share via SMB, but a local copy of files may also be affected by this bug," says Microsoft on its website.
Microsoft recently "fixed" the problem with patch number KB5022913. However, something went wrong and the developers decided to leave the bug in a new version of the operating system. Microsoft claims that the disk subsystem slowdown only affects corporate users.
Several Reddit users have complained of significant slowdowns on gaming notebooks. They noticed that the startup time, which originally took about fourteen seconds, increased to thirty-one seconds. A user uninstalled the KB5023706 update and found that the problem disappeared.
