Ming-Chi Kuo: HomePod will have 7-inch display

Authorized analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will release an updated version of the HomePod smart speaker with a 7-inch display. According to the analyst, this device will be introduced in the first half of 2024.

Kuo said in a report that the presence of a display in the new smart speaker will contribute to the gadget's deeper integration with other hardware products from Apple. According to the source, China's largest LCD display maker Tianma will be the sole supplier of screens for the updated version of HomePod. It should be noted that if the contract is successfully fulfilled in the future, Apple may enter into a contract with Tianma for the supply of screens for iPad tablets.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in 2021 suggested that Apple is working on a new version of the HomePod with a display and a camera. He also reported that the HomePod will use touchscreen displays. This work is being done as part of Apple's renewed strategy for smart home devices.

The IT giant is rumored to be working on a combo device that will combine the capabilities of the Apple TV and HomePod. As for HomePod speakers, they already work under tvOS, but it is possible that a separate homeOS platform will be created for these devices.
