Western Digital has announced the start of sales of its new My Book and My Book Duo external hard drives(image above) with capacities of 22 and 44 TB respectively.
So far, the WD My Book Duo lineup of dual-disk external hard drives has included models ranging from 16TB to 36TB. In addition to the two USB-A ports, the new 44TB model adds USB-C connectivity at up to 5Gb/s for the first time. In the software you can choose how the unit will work: in the mode of two independent units or in a RAID 0 array as a single space. RAID 1 operation with data backup is also supported. The dimensions of the WD My Book Duo are 160 × 100 × 180 mm.
WD My Book is a single hard disk drive. Includes USB 3.2 Gen1 (5Gbps) interface only. Dimensions are 139.3 × 49 × 170.6 mm.
The company recalled that the average device has ten mobile devices - they generate more than 20 Tbytes of data per year, and this amount is constantly growing.
The new WD My Book Duo is designed for Windows 10 and later systems as well as MacOS 11 and later platforms. The WD My Book 22TB external hard drive has a recommended retail price of $599.99, and the 44TB WD My Book Duo has a recommended retail price of $1,499.99.
