Chrome OS now has two important features: “Power Saving Mode” and “Memory Saving”
Google has released two very important features for its Chrome browser. They write about it on 9to5Mac.
We are talking about two important new features: “Power Saving Mode” and “Memory Saving”. These features have been in public testing since December 2022 and we've even written a guide on how to enable them. Now, the desktop version of Chrome for Windows, macOS and Linux has officially received both toggles - they will no longer need to be activated via service commands.
Google Chrome has the reputation of being a very heavy and gluttonous browser, extremely demanding on RAM. In addition, its energy consumption is much higher than that of Apple Safari or Microsoft Edge. Both of these factors are especially important for laptops, as they are usually equipped with 4-8GB of RAM and relatively small batteries.
The two new options really work, as many people who have tested them in the last two months have noticed. It's safe to say that they should be included by default by all laptop owners. You can do this in “Settings” → “Performance”. Before doing so, make sure your browser has been updated to the latest version.
New features are released gradually, so if you don't have them after the update, then you have to wait a while.
