Xperia 10 V gets convincing CAD look by Onleaks folks Steve Hemmerstoffer and The Tech Outlook
Sony is no longer the force that it used to be in the smartphone business, with its Xperia lineup of phones failing to compete with the best smartphones in the industry, at least in terms of retail. That's partly down to the Japanese manufacturer's reluctance to adapt to changing times, resulting in flagship phones that lack cutting-edge features, even as the $1,800 Xperia Pro-I fails to impress. Regardless, the company hasn't given up on the Xperia yet. A new leak indicates that it's ready to give people something that won't burn their pockets.
Onleaks by Steve Hemmerstoffer and The Tech Outlook created some convincing looking CAD renderings of the Sony Xperia 10 V and the corresponding video detailing the phone's design from all angles.
If these renders are anything to go by, Sony could be sticking with an almost identical design to the Xperia 10 IV - a phone that just got its Android 13 update - which is disappointing, though not particularly shocking. While the folks at The Tech Perspective still don't have information about the phone's internal hardware, say Onleaks has stated that the smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch screen (probably OLED). Furthermore, the phone has increased in size by around 5%, with the increased camera now up to 9.4mm thick. Sony is reportedly keeping the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Xperia 10 V, a standard feature among the company's flagships, including the recent Xperia 5 IV.
The phone's release date is still a bit of a mystery - we can safely rule out a reveal during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year, with Sony reportedly skipping the event - although we do note that the Xperia 10 IV launched in May of last year.
Leak bloggers have turned to partnering with tech blogs to distribute intelligence as of late, but they've criticized their hosts for relaying this information inaccurately, so there's one more reason not to fully trust everything you see here - even though OnLeaks itself has a decent track record with phone leaks.
