Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new budget smartphone, the Redmi A2, in the global market. Today, network whistleblower Roland Kwandt shared the specifications and price of the Redmi A2.
It has been reported that the Redmi A2 will be powered by the latest entry-level processor called MediaTek Helio G36. Redmi A2 is expected to be the world's first smartphone on this chipset.
Judging by the renders, the Redmi A2 looks almost the same as the Redmi A1 model. The smartphone has a textured plastic back panel with a dual camera. The power button and volume rocker are on the right, while the micro-USB port and 3.5mm audio jack are on the bottom. At the top is the speaker grille.
As mentioned above, the device will have a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC, as well as 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Users will be able to expand the memory up to 512 GB using microSD cards.
The Redmi A2 will have a 6.52-inch IPS screen with HD+ resolution (1600 x 720 pixels). The lack of a rear fingerprint scanner suggests that this may only be available on the A2+ model. The back of the smartphone will house an 8-megapixel primary camera, as well as a 2-megapixel depth sensor. To take selfies, the phone will have a 5 MP front camera.
