Moto Rizr: first video of the gadget equipped with a retractable and flexible display is released

A video from the Android Authority appeared on the Internet, which demonstrates a prototype of the Motorola Rizr smartphone, equipped with a retractable and flexible display.

The main difference between Motorola Rizr and other similar smartphones is that the device's screen shifts upward instead of sideways. The design of the device involves a flexible screen, which twists at the bottom of the body and slides up when needed.

According to available information, the creators equipped the smartphone with a POLED screen from the company BOE with a diagonal of 5″ and an aspect ratio of 15:9. When unfolded, the display's diagonal increases to 6.5″, and the aspect ratio is 22:9. To unfold the display, just press the power button twice, and the whole process takes about three seconds.

When the visualization is in its unfolded state, its part on the back of the case serves as an additional screen to display notifications, information about date and time, weather, etc. The additional screen can also be used to preview photos taken by the smartphone's camera.

It is hoped that Motorola Rizr can attract the attention of people who do not want to constantly use a smartphone with a large screen. The Motorola Rizr will be able to provide comfortable video viewing, zooming the screen if necessary.

The concept version of the device is equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery, which may be enough for a device with a 5-inch screen, but not enough for a smartphone with a 6.5-inch screen, not to mention the power provided by the screen deployment mechanism.

The prototype shown is fully operational, but the Motorola Rizr is still a concept from the company's point of view. When the public can be presented with a version of the device, ready for mass production, is still unknown.
