The technical processes by which standard DDR5 memory chips are made do not yet allow overclocking RAM modules without a significant increase in heat generation and power consumption.
However, in the near future, the market may be flooded with models of the DDR5-9000 standard. This was reported by Teamgroup.
The company Teamgroup, which specializes in the production of RAM and storage devices, spoke about a breakthrough in the development of modules of the U-DIMM DDR5 standard. Now these components will pass JEDEC certification on the top bar - that is, they will provide a clock frequency of 6400 MHz in basic mode. At the same time, in factory overclocking mode, these modules will be able to conquer a frequency of 9000 MHz.
The company's engineers report that such a boost was possible thanks to the use of the CKD module developed by Renesas Electronics Corporation. This is a controller that amplifies, buffers and stabilizes the high frequency signal coming from the processor to the RAM.
Teamgroup will be the first manufacturer to include this component in T-FORCE branded modules. Such a decision can be expected to enter the market in the near future.
