PM9C1a SSD: the high performance hard drive announced today

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., today announced the production availability of a high-performance SSD PCIe 4.0 NVMede PM9C1a hard drive. Incorporating a new controller based on Samsung's advanced 5-nanometer (nm) Process and the company's seventh-generation V-NAND technology, the PM9C1a will provide high-performance gaming and computer work on PCs and laptops.

"The new PM9C1a SSD will deliver a powerful combination of superior performance, greater energy efficiency and enhanced security, features that are critically important to PC users," said Yong Ho, Executive Vice President of Product Development and Memory Solutions at Samsung Electronics. . "We are committed to creating storage that meets the diverse and changing demands of the market as we continue to drive innovation in the PC SSD space."

The Samsung PM9C1a SSD offers top speeds and is ideal for everyday use, but also for more demanding computing and gaming applications. Utilizing the PCIe 4.0 interface, the PM9C1a features

The 1.6 times faster sequential read speed and 1.8 times faster sequential write speed over the capacity of the previous model (PM9B1), reaching 6,000 megabytes per second (MB/s) and 5,600 MB/s, respectively. In addition, random read and write speeds can support up to 900K operations per second (IOPS) and 1000K IOPS, respectively.

The new SSD model, PM9C1a also offers up to 70% more output power per watt than its predecessor. This means that the new SSD can handle the same number of tasks using significantly less power. Also, when a laptop goes into standby, the SSD will consume approx. 10% less energy.

Responding to the growing need for stronger security measures, the PM9C1a delivers strong security by supporting the Device Identifier Composition Engine (DICE) security standard created by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), a global organization that develops open standards for computer security. . DATA securely generates cryptographic keys within the SSD, providing device authentication to protect against supply chain attacks, i.e. cyber attacks targeting companies through vulnerabilities in their supplier network, as well as attestation to prevent firmware tampering .

Samsung PM9C1a SSD will be available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage capacity in M.2 format (22mm x 30mm, 22mm x 42mm, 22mm x 80mm).
