The South Korean company Samsung is going to hold an event on February 1st, during which the new Galaxy S23 smartphones will be presented to the general public.
According to network sources, the new flagships will be built on the basis of a special version of the 8th generation Snapdragon processor 2, which will be called Snapdragon 8 generation 2 for Galaxy.
For many years, Samsung has produced flagship Galaxy smartphones based on advanced Qualcomm processors for the US and some other countries, whose markets are important to the company. In other countries, including the states of the European region, Galaxy flagships are sold with Samsung's own Exynos processors, which are generally inferior to Qualcomm chips in many parameters.
Last year, Qualcomm and Samsung signed an agreement that allowed us to assume that all next-generation Galaxy devices will be powered by Snapdragon chips. Now it has become clear that versions of the Galaxy S23 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor for Galaxy will appear on the market. It differs from the standard version of the chip in that the operating frequency of the more powerful Cortex-X3 core has been increased from 3.2 GHz to 3.6 GHz. There were rumors that the production of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip for the Galaxy is being done by Samsung itself, and not by TSMC, but this information has not been officially confirmed.
