CES 2023

The new Halo Swing smart speaker: the king of swing

As part of the CES 2023 conference, Acer introduced the new Halo Swing smart speaker. It follows a three-year-old model, which at the time attracted attention with its RGB lighting, support for the DTS audio format and an interesting display solution with LED dots. Likewise, it is also a fresh novelty, although of course it also offers something extra.

Like the previous model, the Acer Halo Spring looks a bit like an aroma diffuser, but the body is deceiving. It's actually a bright, smart speaker that's better equipped in many ways than competitors from Google or Amazon. Yippee equipped with DTS sound, which promises cinematic audio quality, as well as an internal subwoofer for 360-degree surround sound. The new model also supports Bluetooth 5.2, which means, among other things, it can connect to other Halo Swing units or third-party speakers.

There's also RGB lighting, which pulses and changes light patterns depending on the music being played. Compared to the previous version, this light base is now more practical as it signals when Google Assistant is listening for voice commands.

On the front of the speaker's fabric cover is again an LED display point providing information such as time, weather, email, calendar, reminders or messages. The message or image can be customized by the user using the Acer Halo app. The novelty should be able to handle it with a charge of up to 10 hours of music playback.

It records for possible use outdoors or generally more demanding environments IPX5 protection, which guarantees resistance even against splashes of water. Acer has yet to announce pricing for the new Halo Swing speaker. But it will undoubtedly be an interesting competitor in its class.
