ACER
Acer introduced two gaming laptops from the Predator Helios series to the general public. We are talking about the 16-inch Predator Helios 16 and the 18-inch Predator Helios 18, which have impressive features.
They will also be produced in versions with mini-LED displays with high brightness and refresh rate. Both laptops will be available at retail later this year.
Laptops with mini-LED screens are still rare, although premium TVs and tablets like the 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro are more likely to use these panels. Both Acer notebooks will be available in versions with a mini-LED display, which, according to the developers, has 1000 zones of local dimming. At the same time, the maximum brightness indicator exceeds 1000 cd/m2.
The panels used support a refresh rate of 250 Hz, have an aspect ratio of 16:10 and cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, which can be important for content creators who need accurate color reproduction . In the standard configuration, laptops are equipped with IPS displays with QHD+ resolution on the Helios 16 and FHD+ on the Helios 18, in addition to a refresh rate of 165 Hz.
As for hardware, the new Predator Helios laptops will be available in configurations with the latest 13th generation Intel Core mobile processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series graphics accelerators, up to the mobile GeForce RTX 4080. The configuration will be complemented with up to 32 GB of memory DDR5 RAM clocked at 4800 MHz and a PCIe 4.0 solid state drive with a capacity of up to 2TB. The new Acer notebooks are equipped with a Wi-Fi 6e wireless adapter and also have a large number of interfaces, including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1 and three USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports.
As per the available data, the base version of the Helios 16 will cost $1,650 while the Helios 18 will cost $1,700. Acer has yet to announce exact pricing for flagship versions of laptops with mini-LED displays and 250Hz refresh rate, but a company representative said preliminary pricing for the Helios 16 and Helios 18 with mini-LED displays is of $2,800. and $3,000 respectively.
