TRANSCEND

MTE250S: the brand's new SSD series with graphene cooler

Transcender Company comes with a new generation MTE250S SSD series. They use the PCIe Gen4 x4 interface with NVMe and are in the form of M.2 2280 cards. Traditional 3D NAND Flash memories, an 8-channel controller and DRAM cache are used here. They will be available in two different capacities of 1TB (TS1TMTE250S) and 2TB (TS2TMTE250S). In terms of sequential read speed, the 1TB variant manages 7200MB/s, the larger 2TB version is only slightly slower at 7100MB/s. On the contrary, for sequential writing, SSDs swap it, and the smaller version offers 6200 MB/s lower, while the larger one offers 6500 MB/s better.

In random access, the two SSDs are already equivalent and offer 530K IOPS for read and 420K IOPS for write. Both handle 780 rewrites, their paper life is therefore 780 TBW, or 1560 TBW and 0.43 transcripts per day (DWPD) over a 5 year period. An interesting feature here is the very thin graphene cooler, which has excellent thermal conductivity. There is also LDPC (ECC) support and SSD Scope monitoring software. The manufacturer gives a 5 year warranty on the SSD.
