Gran Turismo 7 could be the next hugely popular PlayStation franchise to arrive on PC

Sony has accelerated its PC porting plans over the past couple of years, bringing great games like God of War to Spider-Man to the platform. Gran Turismo could be the next hugely popular PlayStation franchise that could be coming to PC, with game director Kazunori Yamauchi saying the studio is "considering that".

Speaking to GTPlanet during a Gran Turismo 25th Anniversary event, when asked about Polyphony Digital's planning for any PC port, Yamauchi said: "It's not a very easy subject, but of course, we're looking into it and considering it. ".

"Gran Turismo is a very well-tuned title," added Yamauchi, explaining why it's not an easy decision. "There aren't many platforms that can run the game at 4K/60p natively, so one way to make that possible is to restrict the platform."

While it looks like the porting project is still waiting for a green light to proceed, the ever-reliable information from 2021's Nvidia GeForce Now has listed Gran Turismo 7 already with a port planned. The list is not officially from the publishers, but its content was confirmed game-by-game last year.

Xbox's own answer to the Gran Turismo sim racing experience is the upcoming reboot of Forza Motorsport. However, the Xbox console and PC title have a Q2 2023 release window attached to it, meaning Sony may try to jump in and capture PC audiences before then. Gran Turismo 7 was released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on March 4, 2022.

As for what Sony has already announced as coming to PC in the future following the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales earlier this month, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 1 Remake will be next. Leaks have also shown that Housemarque's return is also coming to PC, but we can wait until 2023 to find out what else Sony has planned.
