In December last year, the OPPO Find N smartphone with flexible display was launched. The device, made in the form of a book, weighed 275 grams. Its successor OPPO Find N2 could be the lightest smartphone in its class, weighing less than 240 grams. This was announced by an authoritative Ice Universe insider.
For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 weighs 263 grams, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 weighs 262 grams, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 weighs 255 grams, the Vivo X Fold weighs 311 grams. However, smartphones with a vertical screen weigh less (Galaxy Z Flip4 weighs 187 grams), but this is a different form factor.
If the Ice Universe information is confirmed, we can talk about significant progress for foldable smartphones like a book. It's not entirely clear how the manufacturer managed to reduce the Find N2's weight. Most likely, some new materials will be used in manufacturing.
By the way, the South Korean company Samsung has also set itself the goal of significantly reducing the mass of next-generation branded folding smartphones.
