DJI introduced another drone from the Mavic 3 family. The Mavic 3M model is much more functional than the Mavic Classic - the manufacturer added more cameras and also equipped the novelty with multispectral sensors for surface monitoring at different ranges.
This is the next commercial drone in the Mavic 3 series, after the Mavic 3E and Mavic 3T. Furthermore, the Mavic 3 Classic went on sale just a few weeks ago, and the company is aiming to introduce a Mini 3 variant in the foreseeable future. The latter two versions are versions of existing drones with reduced functionality, while the Mavic 3M has more cameras than the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cinema.
According to DJI, the new model uses the same 20MP 4/3 main CMOS sensor as the original Mavic 3. However, DJI replaced the telephoto camera with four 5MP cameras capable of capturing light with different wavelengths.
In particular, the Mavic 3M has sensors with channels:
Green (G): 560 nm ± 16 nm;
Red (R): 650 nm ± 16 nm;
Red border (RE): 730 nm ± 16 nm;
Near Infrared (NIR): 860 nm ± 26 nm.
There is also an upward-facing camera that stores sunlight data as image files, which are later used in 2D image processing.
In addition, the device is known to be equipped with an RTK module that provides positioning accuracy of up to 1 cm horizontally to 1.5 cm vertically. Judging by the promotional video, DJI has developed a new model primarily for working in agriculture, although users in other areas may also find use for drones.
It is known that the novelty can fly at an altitude of up to 6 thousand meters above sea level, the flight time in the absence of wind is 43 minutes, and the maximum flight distance is up to 32 km.
