Google has just started selling its first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, and the first customer reviews have started to appear online. And they brought a surprise - users discovered an officially undeclared feature of the Pixel Watch.
Pixel Watch smartwatches can charge wirelessly considering the price of the watch, many expected it to receive wireless charging support. However, Google says the Pixel Watch does not support wireless charging and can only be charged using the proprietary magnetic charger included in the box.
However, some early Pixel Watch buyers have reported that the watch can actually be wirelessly charged using the reverse charge feature on select smartphones, Qi chargers and Qi-enabled portable batteries(image above).
However, Google still claims that the watch does not officially support wireless charging. In response to a recent post on Reddit, a Google expert responded:
Wireless charging is not supported on Google Pixel Watch. There may be some charging configurations where wireless or Qi reverse charging works. However, the result will largely depend on the specific smartphone and charger, and does not guarantee stable, stable or correct charging. Note that in some cases this may cause the gadget to unload during "loading". For best results, you should always use the charger that came with your watch."
