South Korean giant will bring “continuous update” support to its phones
Internet giant Google has made it mandatory to support "A/B system updates" or "continuous update" for all phones that are on sale with the current version of Android, Android 13. The company itself explains this feature as follows: “A/B system updates, also known as rolling updates, ensure that a viable boot system remains on disk during over-the-air. (OTA) update. This approach reduces the chance of a device down after an upgrade, which means fewer device replacements and device reflashing at repair and warranty centers. OTA updates can occur without interrupting the user while the system is running. Users can continue to use their devices during the OTA.”
According to the statement of a senior Samsung official, this useful feature will also be offered to many Samsung smartphone models that will receive the OneUI 6 interface in 2023. According to the official, the company is actively working on this issue. However, as we mentioned above, Google makes this infrastructure a must-have for Android 13. In this regard, it might be the feature mentioned in all Galaxy models that not only get Android 13 in 2023, but is directly introduced to the market with the Android 13 + One UI 5, may not need to wait for OneUI 6 for many devices
