Apple is getting ready to release the next update to its mobile operating system. iOS 16.1 rollout will start on September 24, and users of iPhone 8 and newer Apple smartphones will be able to install it. Some of the innovations that will be available after installing this update deserve special mention.
In iOS 16.1, the developers implemented the Live Activities feature, which will allow you to follow sports competitions and other online events from your iPhone's lock screen. This innovation is especially relevant for owners of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which are equipped with screens that support the Always-On Display function. The possibilities of Live Activities will expand as developers integrate support for it into their products.
Even in the new version of the OS, the ability to remove the Wallet app is implemented. Note that without it, several options will no longer work, including Apple Pay, Apple Cash, and Apple Card. iOS 16.1 adds support for the Matter standard, allowing you to connect more smart home devices through the Home app. The standard will ensure that compatible smart home devices work on different platforms.
After installing the update, iPhone users will be able to create a shared photo library on iCloud. This function will facilitate the sharing of images, for example, among family or friends. Up to six people will be able to connect to a library, each of whom will be able to add photos, including from personal libraries.
Additionally, iOS 16.1 introduces the Clean Energy Charging feature, which aims to reduce the iPhone's carbon footprint. This should be achieved by optimizing the charging process in cases where green energy sources are used on the grid.
