YARBO
The use of robots as janitors has not been new for a long time. Some of them cut the grass, others shovel the snow. In contrast, the Yarbo autonomous modular robotic janitor can perform many functions at the same time, in particular, tending lawns, clearing blizzard paths, and also removing fallen leaves and other debris.
The base element of the Yarbo is a motorized unit on a rubber rail, to which any of the three modules are connected. Thus, the lawn mower module is equipped with two rotating blades located side by side. The cut grass parameters are up to 50 cm wide and 3 to 10 cm high.
The snowplow module sucks up snow up to 30 cm high and spreads it over the sides at a distance of 12 m.
And finally, a module designed for cleaning leaves and small debris. It is equipped with a powerful fan that delivers airflow at a speed of 190 km/h, which on the Safir-Simpson scale corresponds to ... a Category 3 hurricane. The flow can be adjusted using a special application .
The Yarbo is protected from collisions with obstacles by millimeter-wave radar and a camera. The caretaker robot is well oriented on the spot with the help of GPS and chooses the most ideal route for you. It requires no wires and special navigational beacons along the way, which the previous generation of robotic lawnmowers cannot boast of.
The Yarbo lawn mower is available on Kickstarter for $2,600 (retail price can be as high as $4,400). With all three modules, it will cost $3,700 and $6,700, respectively. In the future, developers promise to create other cleanup modules. The janitor robot should go on sale in December.
