Worldwide demand for wearable devices has declined

International Data Corporation (IDC) reports that worldwide demand for wearable devices has slowed in the second quarter of this year. Apparently, this is due to the current geopolitical situation and high inflation.

IDC statistics take into account shipments of smart watches, fitness bracelets, fully wireless headphones, etc. An estimated 107.4 million wearable gadgets were sold globally from April to June inclusive. This is 6.9% lower compared to the same period last year.

The biggest player in the market is Apple with a share of approximately 25%. Furthermore, the top five manufacturers include Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and Imagine Marketing. All other industry players together control 43%.

A total of 535.5 million wearables are projected to be sold globally in 2022. Approximately the same number of gadgets were shipped last year.

IDC also predicts that growth will resume next year. In particular, an increase in demand for fully wireless submersible smartwatches and headphones is expected.
