APPLE

Apple ahead of Android in the US

The apple giant, although it has relatively expensive products aimed at the mainstream and high-end, is still very popular, which mainly concerns the US. The United States is already the traditional stronghold of this Californian company and, according to the analysis company Counterpoint Research, it has managed to reach more than 50% of the smartphone market. We are not talking about sales here, but the user base, i.e. the number of phones that are actively used, including used phones or phones that users have had for several years. This doesn't necessarily equate to sales figures, as customers tend to keep iPhones longer than Android phones. Thanks to their higher performance they become morally obsolete later on, they also have significantly longer software support, after all iOS 12.5. 2013 (i.e. a 9 year old device).

According to Counterpoint, this is the first time Apple has managed to break this 50% mark. In addition, he will present the new iPhone 14 in just 5 days, while expecting relatively high interest (should have increased the order from 90 to 95 million units with production partners). It remains to be seen whether this will be overly optimistic. While the iPhone 14 Pro (and Pro Max) should get a new A16 Bionic processor and a new 48 MPx camera, as well as an improved ultra-wide-angle module that should get 1.4µm pixels instead of the current 1.0µm. , the basic iPhone 14 will be worse. The iPhone 14 will likely not see significant changes, it will have the same big screen, the same camera and the same processor as last year. However, the not very popular iPhone 13 mini will be replaced by the large iPhone 14 Max(?), where Apple likely expects customers to receive it more than the compact model. If the iPhone 14 succeeds and the user base expands again, it could also benefit Apple in higher sales commissions and software subscriptions.
