Xbox Series S gets updated and now has hundreds of additional megabytes of storage

Microsoft has released an update for the Xbox Series S that frees up hundreds of additional megabytes of storage for game developers. This can potentially improve graphics quality or project performance on a small console version.

The release of more memory is included in the Xbox Game Development Kit (GDK) June 2022 Update. Additionally, this game development toolkit has received many community-requested improvements. For example, speeding up the allocation of virtual addresses for graphics. This will allow the Xbox Series S to take advantage of Microsoft's latest memory management advances without negatively impacting performance.

When the Xbox Series S launched in November 2020, only 8 of the 10GB of RAM was available to game developers – the rest is reserved by the operating system. Because of this, some project creators complained about the difficulty in adapting games to the weakest features of the console. Now, a little more space has become available, which means that the process of transferring games has become easier.
