iPhone 14 will be produced simultaneously in China and India later this year
Foxconn, Apple's key partner, has iPhone production lines in several locations outside China, including Brazil and India. However, Chinese manufacturing remains the most important when it comes to the company's global smartphone shipments. It seems that this year the situation will change, and the production of the iPhone 14 will start simultaneously in China and India. This view is shared by authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The analyst believes that at least one version of the iPhone 14 will be produced in India at the same time as China. If this is true, then this will be the first time that production of a new generation iPhone has started in another country at the same time as China. It usually takes several months before production starts in other countries. For example, Foxconn started assembling the iPhone 13 in India in April of this year and in Brazil a few weeks later.
iPhone production in other countries is primarily aimed at meeting demand in local markets. Kuo believes Foxconn's iPhone 14 manufacturing capability in India will not be enough to fill the gap created by production issues in China, but for Apple this milestone is an important milestone on the path to expanding production outside of China. The analyst emphasized that Apple's decision to launch early production of the iPhone 14 in India is dictated by the geopolitical influence on the company's supply chains.
