APPLE

Apple Watch Pro pode receber suporte via satélite, mas não imediatamente

Apple Watch Pro may have satellite communication, but in the future

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Apple is working on implementing support for satellite communications on its devices, particularly the iPhone. Information about the appearance of such functionality on the iPhone 14 began to spread especially actively. According to Bloomberg expert Mark Gurman, communication with satellites could also appear in smartwatches, in particular, one of the future Apple Watch Pro.

As the journalist stated, one of the protected yet unannounced generations of Apple Watch Pro can actually come into contact with satellites. According to him, such an idea was discussed in the depths of the company itself. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman recalls that the new functionality will allow, in particular, to quickly contact the emergency services and provide them with their coordinates. At the same time, the ability to contact first responders, doctors or law enforcement officers outside of normal cellular communications coverage is just the first step in Apple's plan. As a result, users will be able to gain global Internet access and make regular phone calls via satellites. The combination of 5G and satellite connectivity is expected to make the iPhone the most powerful consumer device for global communications.

Probably, in addition to the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8, the new Apple Watch SE and the advanced Apple Watch Pro will also be presented during the debut on September 7. Although the first generation of Apple Watch Pro does not support satellites, the model will receive other news. According to Gurman, the Pro version will be visually different from the Series 8 model due to the new design, the journalist reports an “evolution of the current rectangular format”.

One of the main changes to the Apple Watch Pro is expected to be the materials. While aluminum, stainless steel and titanium are currently used in the manufacture of the Apple Watch, the Pro version will likely be made from a “more durable version of titanium” – the company is trying to make the watch as strong as possible. Extended battery life is expected to be a "key factor" for extreme sports enthusiasts.

Finally, just like the Apple Watch Series 8, the new Pro version will be able to measure body temperature, more precisely, the watch will send an alert if it is above normal. After that, it will be possible to measure it with a conventional thermometer.
