Company launches dedicated hardware solution for systems on a chip (SoC) with RISC-V architecture
Alibaba Cloud announced the Wujian 600 platform, a dedicated hardware solution designed to build systems on a chip (SoC) with RISC-V architecture for edge computing. The new feature also includes an optimized software stack designed to accelerate the development of end products.
Wujian 600 is a creation of T-Head, a division of Alibaba Group. The platform has already been used in the development and prototyping of its own high-performance SoC called the TH1520.
The main component of the TH1520 is the XuanTie C910 processor with four RISC-V cores operating at clock speeds of up to 2.5 GHz. In addition, the product includes a neuroprocessor unit, DDR memory controllers and various interfaces. This SoC is already applied in the Alibaba ecosystem, and the XuanTie C910 chip design is available on GitHub.
The launch of the Wujian 600 platform is expected to help developers create and bring custom RISC-V solutions to market. And this should contribute to the popularization of the corresponding architecture. SoC features built using Wujian 600, according to Alibaba, are enough to run desktop applications like FireFox and LibreOffice on OpenAnolis, a proprietary Linux system.
