Acer announced a Chromebook Vero 514 portable computer with Chrome OS operating system. This is the first Chromebook in the Vero family of devices with a focus on sustainability.
Thus, the chassis of the novelty is 30% recycled plastic, and the keys are 50%. The packaging contains 90% recycled paper. Laptop design assumes ease of repair, upgrade and later disposal.
The computer is enclosed in a robust case - the MIL-STD 810H standard: he, in particular, is not afraid of falling from a height of up to 122 cm. The screen with a diagonal of 14 inches and Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) has a protective Corning Gorilla Glass. Optionally, a touch panel can be installed.
The Chromebook is based on the Intel Alder Lake platform. The maximum configuration includes a Core i7-1255U processor with ten cores - two for performance and eight for energy efficiency. The chip includes an Intel Iris Xe graphics accelerator. The clock frequency reaches 4.7 GHz. The amount of RAM is up to 16GB, the solid state drive capacity is up to 256GB.
The equipment includes a Wi-Fi 6E wireless adapter with support for 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz frequency bands. There's a fingerprint scanner, a Full HD webcam, USB Type-C, USB 3.2 Type-A and HDMI interfaces. Claimed battery life on a single battery charge of up to 10 hours.
In the European market, the novelty will go on sale in November at a price of 600 euros.
