SATECHI

Brand features charger that 4 USB-C devices at the same time

Satechi is back with another gadget accessory, capable of powering all your everyday gear at the same time. The Satechi 165W USB-C GaN charger has four ports and enough power to charge an iPad, iPhone and laptop at the same time – or any other USB-C device you can carry.
Gallium nitride (GaN) chargers have grown in popularity due to their ability to charge multiple devices quickly at the same time. The exact number of gadgets that can be connected to a GaN charger depends on the device, but generally speaking, these types of power bricks can be used to quickly charge a smartphone and tablet at the same time, in addition to powering at least another device, albeit potentially at slower loading speeds.
The new 165W model from Satechi includes four USB-C PD ports, putting it at the top of the category. With this design, the power pack will split the overall power between up to four devices connected to it for a total of 165W. The total power supplied to a device depends on which ports are in use.
For example, two connected devices might result in 60W/100W power splitting, while connecting devices on all four ports would split the power by 30W/30W/45W/60W. Using gallium nitride offers greater efficiency over silicon-based chargers, allowing for this high power output despite the model's relatively small size.
Poorly made GaN chargers are a safety hazard as they can get very hot and catch fire; some can also be poorly made in such a way that they can damage the devices. Satechi has a good reputation in the market for manufacturing quality products and notes that its new 165W offering is ETL and CE certified.
The new model is available for purchase now for $119.99. While the price tag is high for a charger, those who travel frequently may find the device worth it as it eliminates the need to carry several separate quick chargers.
