Brand introduces new line of processors up to 14 cores

The new generation of Intel processors is heading towards laptops. These mainly bring the architecture of two types of cores. The company promises to increase performance and improve consumption in portable devices.

The new Intel Core processors for notebooks will offer up to 14 cores, support for PCIe Gen 4.0, DDR5 memory and Wi-Fi 6E. However, the main attraction will be the increased performance and the use of a combination of powerful and cost-effective cores. The best H-series chip achieves a clock speed of 5Ghz and measures up to 115W.

Intel has divided chips into three categories. In addition to the established H and U-series, we will more often find models marked with a P as Performance Thin & Light.

The H-series traditionally offers maximum performance and overclocking capability. The highlight will be the i9-12900HK model with 14 cores (6 + 8), 28 MB L3 cache and clock speed up to 5 Ghz. The performance increase is expected to be up to 43% in some applications compared to the previous generation. That's a 28% increase compared to Core i9-11980HK.

The chips will support DDR5 / LPDDR5 and DDR / LPDDR4 memories with speeds up to 4800 MT / s. Thunderbolt 4 is also supported.

The middle class in the form of S chips is based on a maximum consumption of 64 W, but basically the processors say 28 W. The number of cores ranges from 10 (2 + 8) to 14 (6 + 8). The maximum frequency will reach 4.8 GHz.

Processors marked with a U are divided into two subcategories. The more powerful ones have a basic power consumption set at 15 W and end up with the number 5 before U. A more economical one is enough for 9 W and you'll recognize them thanks to the number 0 before U.

The Celeron and Pentium models in this family even have a single powerful core. Four economic hubs will help them. Intel is betting on the interaction between the two kernel hints, but practice will show whether this change was worth it.
