Alienware 34 QD OLED: World's first Quantum Dot gaming monitor unveiled with a 175Hz QHD panel, 1,000 nits peak brightness, and more

CES 2022 has been host to some seriously impressive monitors from Samsung, who unveiled its first 4K 240Hz offering at the trade show. Dell also has an ace up its sleeve called the Alienware 34 QD OLED gaming monitor (model number AW3423DW). It is the "world's first Quantum Dot OLED" gaming monitor that comes with superlative specifications. Unfortunately, we don't know how much it will cost at the moment. Dell has said that it will reveal its price close to its shipping date, which is set for March 2 (China), March 29 (North America), April 5 (rest of the world).

The Alienware 34 QD OLED gaming monitor features a 34-inch Quantum Dot OLED panel with two native resolutions. Over a DP cable, it can output content at resolution 3,440 x 1,440 pixels and a 175Hz refresh rate. The latter is reduced to 100Hz over an HDMI cable, presumably due to bandwidth restrictions. It has an aspect ratio of 21:9, 1800R curvature, 250 nits average and 1,000 nits peak brightness, one million to one contrast ratio, and a 0.1ms GTG (grey-to-grey) response time.

Content creators will be pleased to know that the Alienware 34 QD OLED gaming monitor has Delta E values lower than 0.2 and that it covers 99.3% and 149% of the DCI-P3 and sRGB colour gamuts, respectively. It is also VESA HDR 400 and Nvidia G-Sync certified. Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DP1.4 port, four USB Type-A ports, two 3.5mm audio inputs and an RJ45 Ethernet jack. It weighs 6.92 grams (15.6 pounds) and is available in the Lunar Light colour variant. And yes, there are four distinct RGB zones (back, power button, downlight, loop) controllable via AlienFx.
