A country that 8 out of 10 phones support 5G
The fast network, known as the 5G brand, is still with us for a relatively short time, although coverage in our market is already quite reasonable. The first phone to carry this brand was the 2019 Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, and since then support for the next-generation network has expanded to significantly cheaper and more affordable devices. And sales correspond to that.
Chinese Academy of Information and Communication Technology now issued 5G device sales report in the local market in November. And it turns out that phones supported by the next generation network completely dominate sales and replace 4G phones.
In November, 35.252 million phones were sold in China, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.2%, of which 82.2% were 5G devices. Thus, 28.976 million of them were sold and, compared to the same period last year, the 5G phone market grew by a considerable 43.9%.
Almost fifty in November alone...In November alone, 47 new phones were launched in China, a 34.3% increase from the previous year and, somewhat surprisingly, only 5G support it, which is 16, 7% less than in November last year, and this number means that of all the November news, only 31.9% support this network. Looking at the current year, the period from January to November, 317 million phones were sold in China (+12.8%) and up to 239 million support the next generation network (+65.3%). This means that during that period, 5G phones had a Chinese market share of 75.3%, which is a huge number.
Apple is number one in China...Of course, most 5G phones in China were sold by national brands, which handled 275 million devices sold. apple however is, as usual, very successful in this market and, for example, in October it became the number one spot with a 22% share for the first time since 2015. It is mainly attributed to the new iPhone 13 series that it obtained great success in China and is loved by its people.
